Romance Review | Brown-Eyed Girl by Lisa Kleypas

Overview: Wedding planner Avery Crosslin may be a rising star in Houston society, but she doesn't believe in love--at least not for herself. My Review: I have to start by saying I've been reading Lisa Kelypas for over six years and love her stuff. I started because of her historical romance books. I've never read any of her contemporary work but have to say I really liked this book. You don't need to read the previous ones in the series in order to completely get wrapped up in this plot and the characters which I love. Brown-Eyed Girl gets 4.5 hot and bothered stars from me. 

Joe Travis is my kind of man from his slow way of speaking to his impeccable manners. He is clever, witty, down-to-earth, sweet, tender, giving, and patient. I would move to Houston if it meant I would find a Joe Travis and  I strongly dislike the state of Texas as true Northeasterner. 

Avery was a really well thought out character. She's a modern woman who has been scorned by love and so is scared to ever consider dating again. She's career driven, smart, sweet, caring, and fun. Joe is exactly what she needs and in turn she gives him, after a bit of a struggle, what he needs. 

The story does a good job of showing both Joe and Avery as they are without one another and as they are with each other. The family drama from both ends only further adds to the coming together of the two and makes for an even more interesting read. Of course, Joe's a sexy fucker and quite amazing in bed which is always pleasing to read.
