OverviewLife was supposed to get easier…

At least that’s what Tatum had hoped. New school year, great boyfriend…and things with her and Zach were supposed to be wonderful. Fairy tale wonderful.

They aren’t.

Zach’s overbearing family controls his every move—and worse, they want to control Tatum.

Now Zach is pressuring her to ‘speak for him’, which means she’ll not only be committed to him but also his mob family. Where’s the guy she fell in love with? To make matters worse, her friends introduce her to Nigel, the new guy who is more tempting than Tatum wishes.

So which will Tatum give in to…coercion or temptation?

My Review: 4.5 I want this to work and mob families be damned stars. Tatum and Zach are together but honestly how long is that going to last with her minimal understanding of his life style and his head of the family throwing him to marry a nice Italian girl for a mob family alliance? Zach and Tatum may be teenagers but in Zach's life you do not get to be a child and must make your life choices young and handle the consequences of those choices.

Tatum loves Zach fiercely but doesn't understand what is really at risk, what Zach does to protect her, and how important it is for her to speak for him as he has spoken for her. Tatum is very naive and a bit close-minded which can come from the fact that she's lived a pretty sheltered and quiet life before really getting involved with Zach and that "incident" with her ex-boyfriend. She proves to give up a bit too easily which results in Zach being torn at the seams.

Zach is fighting his family, himself, and all the external forces that threaten to pull him from Tatum. He's strong, loyal, loving, and charming. It wears on him just how much Tatum doesn't understand what is going on, why he needs her to speak for him, and how much he does to protect her. He spreads himself thin until Tatum leaves him both physically and relationship wise.

The story really upset me and frustrated me but I loved it any way. This is by far one of my favorite Young Adult series, ranks up there with Vampire Academy which I LOVED. There's the reality of life choices, of growing before you want to, and the struggle of love in the midst of uncertainty.
