Hamilton Lyrics I Love

1. Got a lot farther by working a lot harder by being a lot smarter - This lyric is from the first song in the play aptly tilted "Alexander Hamilton" considering it is all about Hamilton. People blame the system, racism and multiple other things for them not succeeding but this lyric reminds people that sometimes you have to take it upon yourself to succeed. You have to work four times as hard as someone rich, as someone privileged? Well, get to it because you can't just sit back and expect things to happen.

2. And there's a million things I haven't done, just you wait - This is also from "Alexander Hamilton" and it fuels my personal drive to remember to continue reaching. While there are always things standing in your way, you have to remember to work your butt off and reach for what you want to do. This lyric is one to remember when you want to give up.

3. Another immigrant coming up from the bottom - This is the last lyric from "Alexander Hamilton" but it's still amazing. It is important to remember that anyone, an immigrant or a natural born American, can make something of themselves if they are willing to work and figure out how to get it done.

4.  Aye yo, I'm just like my country: I'm young, scrappy and hungry - This lyric is from "My Shot" and something Hamilton (Lin-Manuel Miranda) rattles off and I totally love it. It's all about striving towards greatness and not giving up. It is like something I feel deep in my soul.

5. I'm past patiently waitin', I'm passionately smashin' every expectation - This is another lyric from "My Shot" and totally describes me. You can't wait patiently and expect everything to come to you. Sometimes you have to be passionately pursuing things, have to go above and beyond and that's what this lyric literally says.

6. Dying is easy, young man, living is harder - This is from "Right Hand Man" and it speaks to me on a very personal level. Living isn't simple but takes a lot of work. It's something I really believe to be true and hold onto.

7. You're like me, I'm never satisfied - This is a lyric from "Satisfied" and I have to admit that I chuckled when I first heard it because I thought of myself. I'm literally never satisfied and can't even lie. I'm always climbing higher, reaching for more and so forth.

8. So this is what feels like to match wits with something at your level, what the hell is the catch? - This is so clever and amazing. It's something Angelica sings about Alexander, who she doesn't end up with, and I can totally sympathize. It's like, "I've finally reached someone who can match wits with me and I'm attracted to but what is going to go wrong?" This lyric is from "Satisfied," as well.

10. Immigrants, we get the job done - This is from "Yorktown" and I love it for a few reasons. First, people forget how important Lafayette and Hamilton were to the winning of the Revolutionary War. Second, it just emphasizes how important immigrants are, how the nation is literally built from immigrants and how important it is to remember that America can only grow and move forward with the help of immigrants and naturalized citizens alike.
