A Week's Reading of Romance Novels | Week 2

In the past week, another week of no classes, I've read at least another four novels. I'm going to review them and gift you with their overviews and covers. I may just ensure your wallet and bank accounts hate me as you'll be tempted to spend more money but it is a chance I'm more than willing to take.

1. His Every Need by Terri L. Austin

 Set in Vegas where the heat is never ending, a unlikely love occurs. If you like wealthy, gorgeous, witty and British, you'll love Trevor Blake. He offered a loan to the female lead's father which defaults and forces Allie to meet Trevor. Allie is a strong and admirable leading female and will charm you. Allie offers herself to Trevor in exchange for her family keeping the house her father used as collateral to obtain the loan from Trevor. Trevor isn't a complete jerk which is always nice and you see where he gets his hot and cold attitude from. Trevor's parents are a riot and the family dynamic between both leading characters is enough drama within itself. The story is decently long with enough complexities and sex to keep you interested. If you do not end up loving Mr. Blake by the middle of the novel, you're doing something wrong.

Overview:

When Allie Campbell's father loses their home to British tycoon Trevor Blake, she pleads for more time to pay off the loan. But Trevor refuses to acknowledge his own family, so he's completely unconcerned with hers. Allie impulsively offers to do anything to keep the house, so he teasingly tells her to move in with him and cater to his every need. To his amazement, she agrees.

2. Filthy Beautiful Lies & Filthy Beautiful Love by Kendall Ryan (Series)

Have you ever been desperate for money? Sophie Evans has, enough to sell herself to a man to be his sex toy. Sophie is sweet and admirable, much like Allie from His Every Need, and sells herself in order to pay for her dying sister's cancer treatments. Fortunately for her, and us, she gets purchased by the sexy, complicated, and not so abusive Colton Drake. Colton has the lingering affects of a relationship gone completely wrong, in all the worst ways possible, that hinder him from having relations of even the sexual kind. He's a work-a-haulic with a strong bond to his brothers that you can't help but feel for. The way he sticks to his moral compass is sweet, never forcing himself on Sophie even when he wants to jump her bones. There is something we never see coming, a love we kind of anticipate, and a happy ending we all want. There is sex, this is me we are talking about. The plot is well developed and the characters are damaged and complicated enough to seem real which is always a winning point with me. There are two books to finish Colton and Sophie's story, then you move to Colton's brother which I did not choose to read.

3. The Forever Series by Priscilla West

I was recommended this series by a follower so decided to give it a try since the previous time someone recomended me a series it was the Fixed Trilogy by Laurelin Paige. This series is decently written, has a similar power play between the male and female lead to other series I read, but is far too short and jumps too much. You go from book one to book two and there's pieces missing that leaves you with far too many questions and the books are short. Decent read but doesn't stand up to the previous two books on this list nor series like the Fixed Trilogy by Laurelin Paige or the This Man Trilogy by Jodi Ellen Malpas. I would steer clear of this, wasn't impressed. 

Overview:

If I got involved with him, it would only unearth the pain I spent years trying to bury.

I thought I had it under control, but I seriously underestimated Vincent’s seductive charm and silver-tongue. I would soon find out how delicious it would feel to let myself fall into this forbidden surrender. 

4. Play Me Series, Sebastian Caine by Tracy Wolff

If you think Tracy Wolff's name looks familiar, don't worry, she's a familiar face. Wolff wrote the Ethan Frost series I raved about a few months ago. In this series, more like a series of novellas rather than novels which I do not like, we are in Vegas and Ethan Frost does make an appearance. The story is centered around Aria Winston who is working as a cocktail waitress in the high rollers section of Sebastian Caine's casino. They meet because of Aria's loss of temper with one of the high rollers and from there Sebastian will stop at nothing to have her. They enter a sexually charged relationship that leads to feelings on both parts. The writing is on par with Wolff's work, the twists and turns keep you captivated, but the shortness of each novel is frustrating. Paying over two dollars for each of these five books is irritating for 30 or so pages. I would say to steer clear unless you want to spend that money. Good read, good characters, and hot sex is what I sum this up as.
