My Review: A well designed story about love, heartbreak, and just how painful it can be to make a bad judgement call. This is my first read by Victoria Denault and it was good enough to keep her on my radar. I loved the hero, downright adored him, but the heroine gave me the urge to smack her with her own book more times than I could count. The writing was good, the story line was pretty good, and the happy ending wrapped everything together to deliver a great gift so my rating is at a shaky 4 stars.
Jordan, Jordan, Jordan . I loved him! He was an all around GOOD guy. He had faults, like most people, but he wasn't malicious or deceitful. He tried many times to fix the situation but outside forces didn't allow for that for over six years. He coped the way he thought would help, lots and lots of sex and indulgence. He was funny, charismatic, charming, passionate, and just all around fun loving. It really isn't hard to like Jordan, but isn't that the point of him being the hero?
Jessie, she is iffy for me. By the end of the middle and end of the book she was okay but during the first 50% I found myself clenching my jaw. She is probably one of the most infuriating female heroines I've run across in a long time. She just kept going around in a circle and couldn't see past her own stupidity. Eventually she worked through it and gave in which allowed for the happy ending. I guess I felt she was a bit weaker than my type of heroine.
Overall, I enjoyed reading this because the banter and passion between Jessie and Jordan was well placed. I even enjoyed the secondary characters, mostly Jordan's siblings, because they all brand something to the table and were pieced effortlessly into the story. I'd like my own hot NFL player, please and thank you.
